Nexus brings innovation to Government

Nexus Technology has been selected as the first organisation to be included in “The Key”, the Innovation Showcase centre, set up by the E-Delivery Team (EDT), at the Department for Work & Pensions.

Damien Kennedy, Head of Business Partnerships at EDT stated, “We want to encourage public sector decision makers to consider different and innovative technology-based approaches, like NETconsent, when looking at delivering their services to the citizen, business and the third sector.”

Number 1 IT security issue for UK IT directors - human error

86% of IT directors believe that the most likely cause of IT security issues comes from their employees.

Causes of IT security issues:

  • 37% say they are down to human error
  • 31% believe staff consciously ignore security policies
  • 13% blame insufficient training and awareness of policies
  • 5% point to industrial espionage.

Minimise the risk to your organisation by esnuring your employees are aware of best practice.

  • Revisit your security policies to account for mobile working.
  • Emphasise the parts of policy and procedure that differ when employees are not in the office.
  • Don’t assume a high level of IT security awareness.
  • Write shorter policies that are easy to read and understand.
  • Keep language simple and non-technical. Use examples to demonstrate key points.
  • Take fair disciplinary action against those that flout rules.
